Carlos Torres

 

 

Carlos Torres Sr., born July 4, 1941 to Ricardo and Faustina Torres in Odem, Texas, passed away on July 19, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, and High School Sweetheart of 45 years, Alicia Torres. Carlos was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Carlos was a life long Catholic and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for 65 years. He was a graduate of W.B. Ray High School, Class of 1960. He was most happy spending time with his loving family, and his granddaughters, Kasey and Emily. Carlos was the family patriarch and welcomed everyone with caring arms.

 

Carlos was a two year letterman and starting member of the 1959 W.B. Ray State Championship Class 4A Football Team and W.B. Ray Athletic Hall of Fame. He enlisted into the United States Army ' Co 'A', 1st Battalion, 327th ,101st. Airborne Infantry Division. He was a Vietnam Veteran, and received a Presidential Citation, Purple Heart with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Senior Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Sharpshooter Badge, and Expert Infantryman's Badge. After his medical retirement from the U.S. Army, he worked and retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot after more than 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer, and a part-time volunteer Course Ranger at the CC Municipal Golf Course where he enjoyed his passionate hobby.
