GABBERT

Truman Keen Gabbert passed away on November 28, 2010 at the age of 69 after a long battle with Myelofibrosis.

He was born in Spur, Texas on December 13, 1940 to Truman and Elizabeth Gabbert. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad and Coastal Refinery, before retiring from Valero Refinery after over 20 years of service. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, loved traveling to Las Vegas with his wife, enjoyed rounds of golf with his son, shared his love of classic country music with his daughter, looked forward to family camping trips to Garner State Park for over thirty years and anxiously anticipated the start of deer season.

Keen was my next-door neighbor during my entire childhood, and several of us who lived in the 22-hundred block of David Street rode to Ray High School in a daily carpool with Keen as our driver.  Those were some of the most "memorable" of my school days.  There were times when it was like bumper cars, especially when the parking lot would be logjammed and Keen would force his way through some pretty tight spots!  I am sorry to hear of his passing.   My condolences go out to his family.
