T. 'Spec'

South Texas native son, Richard T. 'Spec' Bailey, age 71, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was born on January 5, 1941 in Corpus Christi, TX to Harold T. and Lucille Bailey. Spec grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960. After spending one year abroad, he returned home and attended Del Mar College. Spec went to work for his father's construction company and bought the company several years later. He soon earned a good reputation as a paving contractor before working his way up to a general contractor. He has been a respected member of the business community for the last 50 years, serving as a board member for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center and for Halo flight. Spec was also a member of the South Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America. Spec enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his sons and close friends but he especially enjoyed spoiling the love of his life, wife Staria. Spec will be remembered as both a truly 'gentleman', and one of the last true 'southern gentleman'- a man of his word, a man good of heart, a man of honor and a friend to all.

Spec was preceded in death by his parents, Harold T. 'Spec' and Lucille (Miller) Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
