'On December 9, 2011 the supreme commandant (Jesus Christi) gave Sgt. Maj. Alberto Benavides his last set of orders to report to his family for a permanent duty station Forever'.
Alberto Benavides, age, 71, passed away on December 9, 2011. Alberto was born on February 27, 1940 to Celestino and Trinidad Benavides in Realitos, TX.. He graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960. He served in the U.S Marines, active duty from 1960 to 1964 and reserve duty from 1964 to 1984. Alberto retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot.
Alberto is preceded in death by his parents: Celestino and Trinidad Benavides; his brother, Oscar Benavides and sisters: Gloria Garcia and Melva Garcia.
Alberto is survived by his wife, Anita; son, John Albert Benavides; daughter, Jo Anna Benavides-Franke (Michael); two grandchildren: Matthew Lee and Madison Abigail Franke; he is also survived by the mother of his children, Anna Valdez Benavides; two brothers: Celestino Jr. (Elsa) and Higinio (Elma) Benavides; two sisters: Josie McRay and Adelaida Barrera.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Seaside Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., that evening.
A Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 14, 2011.
Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park
