Severo was the best distance man on the Ray crosscountry and track teams. We ran together...sorta, since I was always behind him...for 2 years. I didn't have any classes with him other than that. In all that time, I never heard any negative comments from him; Severo was always upbeat and a gentleman. He offered me and the others lots of encouragement and always had a smile on his face. His boxing talents we didn't know about at the time, but besides being a good athlete, I always felt that Severo had a mature outlook and a good head on his shoulders. I wish we had had more time together. It's a shame that we lost him so early.
