Kelly Donnelly (Price)

Ellin-Kelly Donnelly "Kelly" Price

Ellin-Kelly Donnelly "Kelly" Price, age 78, died peacefully on Friday, March 26, 2021.

She was born on November 6, 1942, in Washington DC, the daughter of Cynthia Hathaway Donnelly and Charles Pinkney Donnelly.

Kelly spent her childhood in Corpus Christi, TX. She graduated from Randolph Macon Women's College in 1964 and established her love of travel as an international flight attendant for Delta before moving to Nashville in 1966 when she married Dr. James Sterling (Jim) Price. Her first job in Nashville was at Third National Bank where she met many of her lifelong friends.

Kelly devoted her time to a number of worthy causes while raising her children in Nashville. An active parent with Ensworth School, Harpeth Hall School, and Montgomery Bell Academy, she was also a devoted volunteer for Friends of Children's Hospital and loved her time as President in 1980/1981, the first year that the Iroquois Steeplechase began benefitting the organization. She served for many years on the Swan Ball Auction Committee. A lifelong Episcopalian, she was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church.

When her children went to college she surprised everyone by co-founding Bread & Company, Nashville's first artisan bakery. She found great joy in working with so many young and talented people during that time. She later worked as a travel consultant and a writer and always had her hands in multiple projects. She loved to travel and spent as much time overseas as possible, particularly enjoying her time in Italy with friends and family.

She took great delight in her granddaughters and loved nothing more than taking them on adventures and attending their events and activities.

Preceded in death by her parents, she is survived by: husband Dr. James Sterling Price; daughter Cynthia Hathaway Price; son James Sterling Price, Jr and wife Anne Young Price of Nashville; granddaughters Ellin Ashby Price and Corinne MacFarland Price of Nashville; brothers Charles Pinkney Donnelly, Jr (Martha) of Washington DC and Harrison Hathaway Donnelly of University Park, MD.

The family is immensely grateful for the care teams at Belmont Village and Caris Hospice as well as Aretha Vaughn and Shanera Jones, who all provided loving care during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. George's Episcopal Church or Friends of Children's Hospital.

Due to covid restrictions, the family will hold a private service.

Ah Kelly was a hoot.  I was honored to be her Debutante date back in the day.  Still have the clipping.from the Caller-Times.  Enjoyed her visit here in Austin to attend Lucy Alexander's Memorial.  Sad to hear of her passing.  My condolences to brother Donny and the rest of her lovely family.
