Eve's obituary

On March 27, 2021, Eve Lee Vickers passed away at the age of 79.
She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on December 16, 1941.
Her parents were Joan and Evan Allen and she had 4 brothers and sisters – David, Pete, Debbie and Robin. She grew up in South Texas in the Corpus Christi/Kingsville area. On June 17, 1962 she married Joe Vickers and had two children, Alane and Shawn. She attended Texas A&I in Kingsville where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and an Associates in Medical Technology from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She began her career at the family furniture store, Allen Furniture in Kingsville. She also worked in accounting and business management for the King Ranch. After moving to Austin, she began working at KVUE Channel 24, an ABC news station where she was promoted to Vice President. She ultimately spent the remainder of her career working as a Vice President for Gannett Broadcast Division and was involved in the management of 23 television and radio stations around the country. She retired in 2010. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly to help everyone in the family. She worked equally as hard to help her numerous friends. The lives she touched simply cannot be counted.
Eve was well known for saving and raising animals. She saved several wild birds that still frequent her home including a Blue Jay that could talk and even imitate their microwave and cellphone sounds. She was also known as the best customer a local business could ever have. She was loyal and supportive and thoroughly respected hard work.
She is survived by her husband Joe, son Shawn, brothers Pete and David and sister Robin, grandchildren Rick, Joni, Katie, and Davis, her beloved daughter-in-law Emily, great grandchildren Emily, Farrah, and Olivia, nieces, nephews, and countless lifelong friends.
