Funeral services for Dale Allen Cryer, 72, will be held Wednesday at University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, and Levi Richardson, officiating. Burial was in Dreamland Cemetery with arrangements by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Mr. Cryer died May 30, 2014, in Amarillo.

He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Dimmitt to John Harrison and Arie McMinn Cryer. He was a graduate of Ray High School in Corpus Christi and was a Recon Marine, serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He married Iva Hill on June 23, 1996, in Canyon.

Dale served as city manager in Friendswood, was a plumbing representative for many years, owned a sporting goods store, owned Cryer’s Steakhouse in Canyon and he and Iva started C&C Environmental Services. He loved flying, golf, hunting, fishing and football.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Cryer; his cousins who raised him, Opal and Luther Sims; and his aunt and uncle, Linnie and Charles Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Iva; his son, Chuck Cryer and wife, Brenda; his daughter, Teresa Shelton; four grandchildren, John and Chris Cryer, Levi Richardson and wife, Leesha, and Kayley Richardson; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Richardson; step-children, Brian Burke, Talara Power, and Kevin Burke and wife, Amanda; step-grandchildren, Marcus Burke, Andrew Power, Kimberly Power, Marcella Burke, Siri Burke, Kare Burke, Tarike Burke, Kirstan Bourn, and Dale Bourn; a brother, John Cryer and wife, Pat; and a sister, George Graves and husband, Richard.

Dale and I were acquainted in high school;  and I knew him to be a very good person.  My sympathies to his family, friends and loved ones.  Darby Harris Kachmar

Dale was one of the good guys. I have fond memoried of Dale and extend my condolences to his family and other loved ones.
