Billy 'Bill' Ray Beyer, age 73, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 in Corpus Christi after a sudden illness. He was born, September 12, 1941 in Robstown, Texas to Alfred H. and Selma Bertha Rundburg Beyer. At age 11 he started his first job at Patillo Brothers Smoke House. When he turned 21 Bill became the youngest meat market manager at H-E-B on North Beach. At 27 he went to work at Speed Queen Laundry where he created the 'upside down' laundry sign. He then went on to open his own meat markets, Garden Center Meat Market, Frontier Meat Market and Santa Fe Meat Market. Bill also was owner and operator of the Pet Shack at the Corpus Christi Trade Center for nearly 15 years. He retired eight years ago to pursue his longtime passion of raising and showing English parakeets. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Edward Beyer.

Bill leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 53 years, Karan Mulhollan Beyer of Corpus Christi, Texas, one daughter, Lori Beyer (Skip) Wilson of Corpus Christi, Texas, two granddaughters, Katherine and Jennifer Wilson both of Corpus Christi, Texas, one brother, Jerry Lee (Sissy) Beyer of Oklahoma, sister-in-law, Jan Beyer of Gregory, Texas, three nephews, Charlie Beyer, Terry Beyer and Michael Beyer, three dear friends who Bill saw as his children, Trey King, Lori Tubbs Calhoun and Carrie Richardson Doty, a host of friends, and his loving dogs, Bo Bo, Daisy, and Buddie.

A celebration of Bill's life will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Friday, November 21, 2014 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. Private family graveside service will be held at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.
